How to remove exempted learning path assignments via user management

Updated over a year ago

The Skillcast application offers the ability to use audience groups to assign mandatory content automatically via a rule set. There may be situations where a user is assigned a group of learning paths with a deadline because they are part of an audience group. Circumstances may mean that they are unable or they no longer need to complete one or more learning paths assigned via the same audience group. For example, exempting a user who has a physical disability from training that details how to a do task on a shop floor that they would be unable to do. Alternatively, if a user is on a support plan you may want to exempt them from specific learning to align with their progress. You don't want to remove them from the audience rules as they meet the criteria for completing all other training, this feature enables you to choose from the users individual assignments for exemption. and then remove that exemption

To complete this you will need access to the User Management functionality within your application and permissions to Exempt users from learning path assignments. If you do not currently have this please contact your Customer Success Manager.

  1. Click on Management Console at the top of your homepage and Click on User Management from the right-hand-side menu called ‘Management Console’.

  2. Follow the instructions found on how to search for the account or accounts you would like to update.

  3. To view one user click on the account and click on Exemptions from the right-hand-side menu called ‘Edit User’.

  4. You will see a list of all assignments available to exempt, assignments that are already exempted will have their box checked and display the reason for exemption, exempted by and the date

  5. To remove the exemption untick the check the box next to the learning path and click on the 'Save exemptions' button. As success message will appear when your chances have been saved.

  6. The next time they log in the user will be able to see the assignment on their home page alongside the other mandatory assignments. Admins will see the assignment in normal MI reporting as well as in the individual user assignments page and also via the 'My team' page.

  7. Removing the exemption will result in the deadline date adjusting to today + the number of days set in the assignment. For example, if a learning path is set to be automatically assigned to staff with a deadline period of 28 days, when the exemption is removed the user will have a further 28 days from todays date to complete that training.
