Understanding Approval Settings for Offline Activities

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Offline activities in the Skillcast portal can require approval before they are marked as complete. Approval settings help ensure that the right people review and confirm the activity. This article explains the three available approval options and how you can configure them.

Anyone Can Approve

The Anyone Can Approve option allows a broader group of users to approve offline activities. Any Line Manager who can view the trainee in My Team, or anyone with access to My Domain or My Company who can view the trainee's records, will be able to approve the activity. This gives you a flexible approval process and is helpful when many managers may need to review submissions.

How to set up:

  1. Navigate to the activity's settings.

  2. Select Approval Settings.

  3. Choose Anyone Can Approve.

  4. Make sure that relevant personnel have access to My Team or My Domain/My Company so they can approve the activity.

Line Manager Approval

Line Manager Approval restricts approval rights to the submitter's direct Line Manager. This option gives you a controlled and hierarchical approval structure, ensuring that only the assigned Line Manager can approve the offline activity.

How to set up:

  1. Go to the activity's settings.

  2. Click on Approval Settings.

  3. Select Line Manager Approval.

Team Approval

The Team Approval setting allows members of a specified approval user team to approve the activity. This is helpful when approval should come from a group rather than a single individual, offering a more collaborative approach.

How to set up:

  1. Access the activity's settings.

  2. Select Approval Settings.

  3. Choose Team Approval.

  4. A drop-down list called Approval teams will appear.

  5. Select the approval team that should approve this activity.

Please contact your Customer Support Manager if you need Team Approvals enabled on your portal.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • Confirm that your chosen approvers have the correct access permissions before assigning an approval setting.

  • Review your approval configuration whenever team structures or line manager assignments change.

Limitations

Note: Team Approvals must be enabled by your Customer Support Manager before you can select this option.
