Creating and saving a Filter within the Dashboard

Updated over a week ago

This article guides you through creating and saving your own filters. Understanding how these features work helps you quickly access specific data and navigate the dashboard with confidence.

Saved reports act as bookmarks that take you to a specific page in the dashboard. Filters allow you to refine the data you see by applying conditions based on your requirements.

What Saved Reports Do

Saved reports simply take you back to a page in the dashboard. They do not store data. Different users may see different results depending on their access permissions and any filters they apply.

If you select Reports and you have no saved filters or saved reports, you will see the default reports view ready for you to customise.

Understanding Filters

Filters allow you to narrow down the information displayed in the dashboard. Once a filter is applied, any navigation you do using the details displayed beneath the filter will only show data related to that filter.

If you return using the breadcrumb, the filter is automatically removed. This ensures you always see the correct information and do not need to manually reset anything.

Creating and Saving a Filter

To create a saved filter:

  1. Select Filters. This opens the filter builder where you can start defining your parameters.

  2. Add the conditions you need. For example, you can filter for any member of staff whose department is Customer Support or Sales.

  3. Select Apply to activate the filter.

If you want to save this filter:

  1. Select Save Filters.

  2. Enter a name for your filter.

  3. Select Save.

Your saved filter will now appear in the Saved filters section. You can rename or delete it at any time.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Always double-check the parameters you have added before saving.

  • If the results do not match your expectations, check whether an active filter is still applied.

  • If you need to reset, use the breadcrumb to remove the filter quickly.

Limitations

Note:

  • Saved reports only store the location in the dashboard, not the data.

  • Filters are automatically cleared when navigating back using the breadcrumb.
