How to change the Next or Continue button

Updated this week

This article explains how to update the behaviour of Next and Continue buttons in your modules. Skillcast modules use two navigation styles, and the way you manage these buttons depends on which style your module uses.

Module navigation styles

  • Left‑to‑Right navigation
Uses page‑based navigation. These modules only contain page elements.

  • Scrolling navigation
Uses a combination of pages and scrolling sections. Scrolling sections may contain text, images, and interactive elements.

Because these navigation styles behave differently, the settings for the Next or Continue buttons also differ.

How to update Next or Continue button behaviour

  • Open the module you want to edit

  • Select Edit content in the sidebar

When sections contain only text and images

If a page or scrolling section contains only static content (for example: text or images with no interactive exercises), the Next/Continue button should be triggered by the section itself.

When the module uses scrolling navigation

If the module was created with a scrolling skin:

  • The page element should always be set to Show Next

How to edit settings

  • Select Edit on the element you want to update

  • For page elements: adjust the hide‑delay setting

  • For scrolling sections:

    • Untick Hide Next and Continue buttons

    • If needed, adjust the Show Next/Continue button delay

These settings allow you to control whether the navigation buttons appear immediately or only after the user has engaged with the content.

After completing your module changes

When you finish updating the module, remember to follow your usual publishing steps so learners can see the latest version.
