How to Add an Embedded Hyperlink or Downloadable PDF

Updated over a month ago

This guide explains how you can insert a hyperlink or upload a PDF that users can download directly from a word or phrase in your content. This is useful when you want readers to access additional information, documents, or resources with a single click.

Adding your link or PDF

Find the module you want to edit

You can follow the steps listed in the article titled Finding a module.

Select Edit content

Use the Edit content option on the right side of the page.

Open the element you want to update

Select the Edit button on the element where you want to insert the link or document.

Highlight the text

Highlight the word or phrase that you want to turn into a hyperlink.

Insert your link or upload a PDF

You have two options:

  • Add a URL or email

Go to the Link Info tab and insert your URL or email address.

  • Upload a PDF

Open the Upload tab, upload your PDF, then select Send it to Server.
Wait for the upload to complete and select OK when your browser prompts you.

Apply the correct styling

Go to the Advanced tab and assign the relevant custom-alt stylesheet class. This ensures the link behaves and appears correctly throughout the platform.

Confirm your link

Select OK to insert the link.

Save your changes

Select the Update button in the bottom right corner of the page.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Preview your changes before updating the module so you can check that the link works as expected.

  • If the link does not display correctly, recheck that the correct custom-alt class has been applied.
