How to Replace an Image in Your Module

Updated over 3 weeks ago

This article will guide you through the process of replacing an image within your module, ensuring your content remains visually appealing and responsive across all devices. Following these steps will help you maintain optimal performance and a professional look for your learning modules.

Why Replace Instead of Insert?

When you need to update an image, it's best to replace the existing image rather than insert a new one. Replacing ensures that important properties - such as the class responsive - are retained. This class allows your image to automatically adjust to different screen sizes, providing a seamless experience for all users.

Tip: Always check that you have the necessary Edit content permission to access the Content editor.

Image Standards

To keep your modules loading quickly and looking sharp, make sure your new image meets these standards:

  • Dimensions: No wider than 1200 pixels and no taller than 800 pixels.

  • Common proportions: 1200x400, 1200x300, 1200x250, or 800x500 (width x height).

  • File format: Use .jpg, .png (for icons with transparency), or .gif (for animated images).

  • File size: Ideally under 100KB; acceptable up to 250KB; never above 500KB.

Note: Large or unoptimised images can slow down your module's loading speed.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Find the module you want to edit. (See the article on Finding a module if you need help.)

  2. Select Edit content on the right side of the page.

  3. Click the Edit button on the element you want to change.

  4. Go to the Content tab.

  5. Click the existing image.

  6. Select the image icon.

  7. Go to the Upload tab.

  8. Click Choose file and select your new image, or drag and drop it onto the button.

  9. Click Send it to the server, wait, and then select OK on the browser popup.

  10. Remove any numbers in the width and height fields.

  11. In Advanced settings, make sure responsive is entered as the class.

  12. Click OK.

  13. Select Update to save your changes.

Troubleshooting and Tips

  • If you're unable to access the Content editor, you may not have the correct permissions. Contact your company admin or Customer Success Manager at [email protected].

  • Double-check your image's size and format before uploading to avoid errors or slow loading times.

Limitations

Note:

  • You must have Edit content permission to follow these steps.

  • Oversized or unsupported image formats may not upload correctly.
