If you are adding a video to a newly created module, please see the article titled Create new module. This guide explains how to add a video to an existing training course. The video will be stored on wistia.com, so please ensure your IT support team whitelists the Wistia website. You will need Edit content permission to access the Content editor.
Before you start
Make sure you have:
access to the module you want to update
Edit content permission
confirmation that Wistia is whitelisted
the video file ready to upload
Steps to add a video
To add a video to an existing module, follow the guidance below using the Content editor.
Find and open the module
Locate the module you want to edit. You can follow the steps in the article titled Finding a module.
Select Edit content on the right side of the page.
Navigate to the correct page
Go to the page where the video should appear.
For West-East modules, if the video should appear on page 3, open page 2.
For scrolling modules, scroll to the relevant area where you want the video to appear.
Add the correct type of content area
Depending on the module format:
West-East modules
add a page element at the end of the page that appears before the page containing the video
Scrolling modules
if the video should appear on a new page, add a page element at the end of the previous page
if the video should appear between existing scrolling sections, add a new scrolling section between them
Insert the video element
Add a Media: Single video element to the page element or scrolling section you just created.
Select the Upload Video button and choose your video file.
Once uploaded, an embed code will appear in the text field. You do not need to change this.
Add a transcript and non-audio actions
Insert a video transcript. This will display when learners turn off the module sound. If no transcript is added, the page will appear blank in the non-audio version.
Copy the showNext(); function into the No audio actions section so that the Next or Continue button appears for learners using the non-audio module.
Finalise the changes
Select Add at the bottom of the screen to insert the uploaded video into the module.
If you have completed all module changes, refer to What do I do when I finish creating or editing my module? for next steps.
