Utilisation tracking of the Skillcast content packages on the third-party LMS

Learn about the user activity tracking for the Skillcast content packages hosted on a client LMS.

Updated over 5 months ago

When a user accesses a Skillcast content package hosted on your LMS, a notification is sent to the Skillcast servers. This notification includes the user's Student ID and Student Name.

Depending on the configuration, your LMS determines the student ID, which may sometimes be the user's email address. For accurate tracking and to prevent billing or usage discrepancies, your LMS must provide a consistent and unique Student ID for each learner. We highly recommend testing the Student ID configuration to ensure it is set up correctly. Your Customer Success Manager can assist you with arranging this test.

The data collected by Skillcast includes the course title, Student ID, Student Name, and the date and time the content was accessed. You can review this information to see who has accessed the content.

For added privacy, you can anonymise user data when hosting Skillcast content on a third-party LMS. Please contact your Customer Success Manager for more information.

Remote content package

You can also use a Remote content package which is fully tracked by Skillcast. It records the above data and allows you to use additional features like Skillcast reporting. You can find more information about it in the article titled E-learning standards and features.
