Delivering Skillcast e-learning on an external LMS

You can host Skillcast e-learning on an external LMS. Create an editable module on your portal and export as a deployed or remote content package.

Deployed content package

A regular e-learning .ZIP package containing manifest and content files. Hosted and launched by an external LMS.

Remote content package

An e-learning .ZIP package that contains the manifest and supporting files only. All content is hosted by Skillcast but launched by an external LMS. It allows the course to function remotely. Changes made to the course using Skillcast content editor will be reflected on your LMS. You won't need to export a new package.

What is utilisation tracking?

When a user opens a Skillcast SCORM module hosted on a client LMS, their web browser sends a message to the Skillcast application. This contains the user's Student ID and student name, which are provided by the LMS. The data is encrypted in transit using https.

If you opt for anonymised data storage, the Student ID and name are encrypted using a salted hash algorithm before being saved in the database. This allows us to determine the number of unique users accessing the Skillcast modules, with no way to decrypt the data and find out who those users are.

If you opt for non-anonymised data storage, the Student ID and name are stored as provided by the LMS. This allows us to give you access to a utilisation report showing which users have accessed which modules.
