Using the Video Player Element

Updated over 4 months ago

This article explains the settings you can use in existing videos using the Video Player Element.

Please note that if you would like to upload a new video, you should use the Single video element. For instructions, please see this article called Adding a Video.

Optimising the video before uploading it is essential if you use the Video Player Element to upload a new video. The ideal maximum file size is 100MB.

Kindly note that you need Edit content permission to access the Content editor.

1. Find the module you want to edit. You can follow the steps listed in the article about Finding a module.

2. Select Edit content on the right side of the page.

3. Go to the page where you want to add the video. For example, for West-East modules, if the video should appear on page 3, open page 2.

4. Add a Page element or a scrolling section for the video.

  • West-East modules - add a page element at the end of the page that will appear before the page with the video.

  • Scrolling modules - if the video should appear on a new page, add a page element at the end of the page that will appear before the page with the video. If it should appear in between scrolling sections, add a new scrolling section in between scrolling sections.

5. Add Media: Video player element to the newly created page or scrolling section.

6. Select the Choose file button under Video and choose the video file you need to add.

7. Insert a Video message. This text will appear above the video, and you can insert user instructions here.

8. Insert a video Transcript. It will appear when users turn off the module sounds or if the user selects the "Select for the non video version" button.

9. Select Add at the bottom of the screen to add the uploaded video to the module.
