This article explains how to add content templates to your module, helping you save time and maintain consistency across your learning content.
Why Use Content Templates?
As a general rule, it's best to start with something that's already been built and edit it to suit your needs. You can use Off-The-Shelf modules, copy elements and pages from other modules, or select from our library of Page Templates.
Building pages from scratch can be time-consuming. To make things easier, we’ve created a library of Page templates for West-East modules and Scrolling section templates for scrolling modules. These templates can be inserted into any module and customised as required.
Tip: Review your content before choosing a template to ensure you select the one that works best. Templates can be used individually or combined.
Note: You need Edit content permission to access the Content editor.
How to Add a Page Template
Follow these steps to add a Page Template to your module:
Find the module you want to edit. (See the article on Finding a module if you need help.)
Select Edit content on the right side of the screen.
Decide where you want to add a new Page or Scrolling section template.
Page: To add a new Page template after page 2, scroll to the bottom of page 2, choose Module: Page template in the element dropdown, and select Add. This will insert a new page element with relevant content elements.
Scrolling section: To add a new Scrolling section template to a page, choose Page: Scrolling section template from the element dropdown and select Add. When adding between scrolling sections, make sure to add it above the next Scrolling section element.
Insert the Page or Scrolling section title, choose the template you need, and select the Add button at the bottom of the page.
Tip: If you want to combine templates on the same Page or Scrolling section, read the article called Combining content templates.
Limitations
Note:
You must have Edit content permission to follow these steps.
Scrolling section templates are only available in modules with the scrolling skin.
